Frequently asked questions about Watts String Wound 20" BB

What housing size does the Watts String Wound 20" BB fit?

This cartridge is listed for Big Blue 4.5 x 20 inch format. Confirm the housing length and diameter already installed before ordering.

What does the 5 and 20 micron rating mean?

The listed micron rating describes the nominal particle size targeted by this string wound sediment cartridge. Filtration performance also depends on water conditions, flow and the exact system layout.

Can this filter be used as a yacht watermaker pre-filter?

It can be used only where the installed watermaker or filtration system specifies the same cartridge dimensions and filtration rating. Match the existing cartridge or equipment manual before replacement.

How do I know when to replace the Watts String Wound 20" BB?

Replace or service the cartridge when the system shows increasing pressure drop, reduced flow, visible loading, or at the maintenance interval specified for the equipment. Water quality can shorten service life.

Can I substitute a different micron rating?

Only if the filtration system manufacturer permits it. A finer cartridge can increase pressure drop, while a coarser cartridge may provide less protection downstream.
