Description

3M Aqua-Pure AP902 provides whole-boat sediment filtration with a stainless steel head, 1-inch FNPT connections and a sanitary quick-change AP910R cartridge. The system supports intermittent peak flow up to 20 GPM and a nominal 5-micron filtration rating.

Whole-boat freshwater filtration

The 3M Aqua-Pure AP902 is a single-cartridge filter offered by Yacht-Mate for larger yacht freshwater systems. Its role is to reduce sediment before water is distributed to onboard outlets. Select it for the water-quality problem it addresses and check the vessel’s normal and peak demand.

What distinguishes this model

The AP902 uses a non-woven pleated AP910R cartridge for sediment reduction. It is the sediment-focused member of the AP900 family. For chlorine taste and odour reduction as well, compare AP903 with its AP917HD cartridge.

Flow, installation and access

The 1-inch connections support a high-flow installation, but they do not guarantee zero pressure loss. The manufacturer distinguishes normal high-flow testing at 10 GPM from intermittent peaks at 20 GPM. Mount the head securely and leave enough space below the cartridge to remove it. Install on a cold-water line and observe the pressure limits.

Cartridge care

The quick-change cartridge avoids opening a reusable housing or using a housing wrench. The existing design includes a locking latch and double O-ring seal. A nominal capacity of up to 100,000 gallons is not a guaranteed sediment life in every water condition. Replace no later than the labelled interval, up to 12 months, and earlier when flow or water quality deteriorates.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose 3M Aqua-Pure AP902 or AP903 for yacht tank water?

Choose AP902 for sediment reduction. If chlorine taste and odour are also a concern, AP903 adds carbon treatment. Check the incoming water and demand before deciding.

Can 3M Aqua-Pure AP902 supply 20 GPM continuously?

The manufacturer describes 20 GPM as intermittent peak flow and refers to capacity testing at 10 GPM. Do not treat the peak number as a guarantee of continuous treatment performance at that rate.

Which cartridge do I need when servicing 3M Aqua-Pure AP902?

The standard cartridge is AP910R. Match that designation to the system before ordering. Other AP900 cartridges offer different treatment functions, so a similar appearance is not enough to identify the correct service part.

Why did my 3M Aqua-Pure AP902 need a new filter before a year?

Cartridge life depends on water quality and use. Sediment loading can restrict flow before the time limit. The manufacturer advises earlier replacement for a fall in flow or a change in taste or odour.

Does 3M Aqua-Pure AP902 soften hard water?

AP902 is specified for sediment reduction. It is not listed as a hardness-removal softener. Select a separate treatment process if dissolved hardness is the problem.
